The best thing about the summer season is that it hardly lasts for two to three months. Therefore, you’d like to make the most out of it. You’d like to make as much hay as long as the sun shines. Since the days are much longer in the summer months, you get a lot of opportunities to have a great time outdoors.
You can go out fishing with your kids, go on a long bicycle trip or enjoy a trek to the mountains. Or you can go on a cross-country trek. But not matter how you spend you time outdoors towards the latter part of the day, the best way of starting your morning is by getting up quite early.
Tranquility hangs in the air early in the mornings in summer that makes for a perfect setting when you step outside for a long walk. You really feel great working out when the world around is calm and quiet. Savoring your early morning cuppa gives you the adrenaline rush to hit the highroad and start jogging and keep at it for at least half an hour.
You can alternate it with sprinting, walking or cycling on other days of the week. Starting the day with an exhilarating workout keeps you feeling energetic throughout the day. You can add to the fun element by taking your pet along with the earplugs of your iPod pressed into your ears.
Soaking in the sun
Working out outdoors is a refreshing and welcome change from the exercise sessions in the cramped and sometimes suffocating environs in the gyms. Doing push-ups in the sun-kissed beaches or running at a pace from end to the other is beyond compare.
In the winter months, you’re compelled to carry on with your workouts indoors as you just cannot imagine exercising outdoors in subzero temperatures. But in the summer months, you can perform the same sorts of exercises that you perform indoors and soak in the sun at the same time.
Your body would get its dose of Vitamin D at the same time that keeps your skin looking younger and protects your body from many diseases as well. Get as much exercise as possible outdoors (without using a sunscreen lotion) as the summer will be gone before you know it.
The summer season gives you the chance to splash out in the cool waters of the lake or the tern that stay frozen throughout the winter. You can go for a swim along with your family. Swimming is an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise.
Since the entire body is mobilized during swimming, it’s a great way to work up all the muscles in your body. And the best thing about swimming is that it is very recreational keeping you cool during the hot and humid summer months.
And then again there are a lot of water sports that’ll help you to get your usual dose of exercise and throw in the fun element. You can go kayaking, canoeing, wind surfing, and water gliding and see yourself losing the flab around your waist and abdomen even before the summer takes its leave.
Take lots of fluids and drink at least 3 to 4 liters of water everyday. Gorge on fresh fruits and summer veggies.
